Maths & Numeracy
Numeracy is the development and application of mathematics across the curriculum and in real-life situations. Numeracy skills help pupils to make informed and responsible choices and decisions throughout their lives.
Maths and Numeracy includes processes in Maths, number, measures, shape and space and handling data. All of these are all interrelated, but processes in Maths applies to all areas. Children use practical resources to develop and consolidate their understanding of mathematical and numerical concepts and engage in a wide range of purposeful activities that involve them in different modes of mathematical learning. These include playing, exploring and investigating, doing and observing, talking and listening, asking questions, reflecting, drafting, reading and recording. Children have experience of maths in the world around us through their practical outdoor learning sessions and are encouraged to challenge themselves to solve problems. Apps and online programs such as Mathletics are used to support all aspects of the Maths curriculum.
