About our School
St. Malachy’s PS is at the heart of the community on Beresford Avenue just off the Lodge Road in the centre of Coleraine. The school consists of a two storey building and a single storey infant wing. The present building, built in 1972, has eight classrooms, a computer suite, Accelerated Reading library, Special Needs room and an after school 'Stay & PlayClub' room. The school also has a large hall which is used for Assembly, PE and whole school events.
Our outdoor facilities include two play areas, a soft play environment, an eco-garden, a polytunnel, a large fixed play frame and a large playing field which is used for sports all year and as a play area in the summer term. St. Malachy’s also has its own school meals kitchen.
Pupils attending our school reside mainly in Coleraine and the triangle catchment area. The expected enrolment for 2023/2024 school year is 170 pupils.
Our teaching staff, including a Principal, 7 full time teachers and 1 part-time teacher, work closely with the classroom assistants and ancillary staff. Together we all provide a happy and secure learning environment in which all children can reach their full potential and have the opportunity to succeed. Staff enjoy good relations with parents and the wider school community and are always striving to promote this partnership further.
